Obituary of Idell J. Gornto

Idell Gornto, 88, of Prince George, went to be with the Lord on August 31. She was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie Susan and Alonzo Jackson, husband Harold Gornto, along with 11 brothers and sisters. Idell had made Prince George her home for the last 28 years, was a 1943 graduate of Hopewell High School, and attended Colonial Heights Baptist Church where she loved singing in the choir and working with senior adults. She was a former employee of McGuire Veterans Hospital where she was a Medical Secretary retiring after 32 years of dedicated service in 1980. She is survived by a brother Alonzo Jackson and wife Marie of Prince George, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Memorial Funeral Home Gould Chapel on Tuesday September 3, from 6 to 8 PM, funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday September 4, at 11:00 AM.
