Obituary of Dorothy Marie Wray
Dorothy "Dottie" Marie Jenkins Wray lost her battle with COPD on Friday, December 22, 2017 at VCU Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born on August 14, 1952 to the late Thelma May Rickman and Fred Alfred Jenkins in Petersburg, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Thelma and Fred Jenkins and her brother, Robert Jenkins. Dottie is survived by her loving husband and fishing partner of 23 years, Thomas Wray; her daughters, Stephanie Phillips (Doug), Linda Newton (Bill), Debbie Scruggs, Pam Eades (Rick); two sisters, Carol J. Moore, Betty Sue Farley; eight grandchildren, Olivia Phillips, Nicholas Wray, Katie Newton (Ryan), Kyle Newton (Danielle), Jesse Eades, Rick Eades and one great grandson on the way, Connor Luke Newton. She had a love of life like no one; she loved her family and being the caretaker. Dottie was a great mother, friend, sister, wife and person. Her kitties, cooking for her family and fishing made her the happiest. To say she will be missed is an understatement. Special thanks to Dr. Dan Grinnan, Janet Pensin for never giving up and keeping her with us the past 11 years. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Ave in Hopewell. Her funeral ceremony will be on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Final rest will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to SPCA at www.aspca.org/donate in Dottie's memory.
