Obituary of Dorothy Frances Nichols Barbini

Dorothy Frances Nichols Barbini, 74, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away November 22, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Richard Harwood and Mary Lewis Roach; and was preceded in death by her husbands, Millard Lee Nichols and Julian “Buzz” Barbini; her sister, Emily Noblin; and her son-in law, Leonard Wayne Cairns, Jr. Frances was a former employee of the Greenhouse Daycare. Some of her best memories are from the many children she was able to work with over the years. There was rarely a time where she went out and didn’t see a child who she taught at one point. Her favorite title was always Nana and Grand-Nana. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much and enjoyed spending time with them. She was able to pass down many stories, including their favorite, the Cat that Climbed the Christmas Tree. She was famous for a leopard outfit and her ever changing hair color. She is survived by her two children, Karol Nichols Cairns and Theresa Mangum (Jimmie); three grandchildren, Tabitha Yost (Jacob), Angel Gonzalez (Michael), and Savannah Andrews; four great-grandchildren, Aubree, Ryleigh, Karsyn, and Michael; and one great-grandchild on the way, Skylar; her niece, Vanessa Downey (Daryl);her two great-nephews, David Downey (Tabitha) and Travis Downey; and her great-great-niece and nephew, Eli and Emily. A memorial service will be held on December 2, 2023, at 11:00am, at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 22218 Dabney Mill Road North Dinwiddie, VA 23803. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the Dinwiddie Fire/EMS, P.O. Box 70 Dinwiddie, VA 23841.
