I fished a bass tournament with Jerry back years ago at Allen's Marina on Lake Chesdin. Our day started out a little late as he had his wisdom teeth removed the day before. After putting the boat in the water, we assisted a young couple who had problems with their Jon boat. Eventually, they got it started but it was full throttle and in gear. They spun around in a circle a few times and ended up being tossed from the boat with the rods and cooler. After getting them out of the water, we rode up the lake to our fishing spot. It was cloudy and rainy off and on. We trolled through a narrow gap and got the boat stuck on a sand bar then the trolling motor blew a fuse. Jerry said " no problem, I got some spares." He fiddled with the fuse holder and it came apart shooting the new fuse into the water. Glad he had another one. We were still stuck and he started pushing us along with the paddle to get us off the sand bar. He was putting all his weight on it when the handle snapped and ended up sticking him in the jaw right where his wisdom teeth had been removed. I have laughed for years over our series of bad luck on our fishing trip. But all was not lost, we ended up winning the tournament that day. Rest in peace Jerry, I certainly enjoyed our adventure.
