Frances Parker Emory
On July 6, 2017, Frances Parker Emory died peacefully surrounded by her family's love at Carolina East Medical Center. She was born in Hopewell, VA, February 27, 1926 and lived there most of her life. Frances and her husband Bob moved four years ago to McCarthy Court, New Bern, NC to be closer to family.
She was a person of great faith and a life-long member of First Baptist Church in Hopewell where she taught Sunday School, sang in the Sanctuary and All Saints choirs and was a long-time member of the Allan Flannagan Sunday School class. She was married for seventy years to Bob Emory and in April of this year she and Bob, with numerous family members from all across the country, celebrated their anniversary at a party in New Bern, NC.
Frances graduated from Hopewell High School during World War II and married Bob in 1947. While in high school she delivered telegrams for Western Union. Once her children were in school she had an administrative position with the Mitchell Wiggins CPA firm in Petersburg, VA from which she retired in 1988.
She is survived by her husband Bob, children Bob Emory, Jr (Lindy) and Susan DiVittorio (Ernie), grandchildren Francie Emory LaRue (Monty), Betsy Emory Jutras (Rob), Paul Rasnick, Ernesto DiVittorio (Amalia), Damien DiVittorio (Courtney), Dominic DiVittorio (Stephanie) and great grandchildren Emory, Chase and Teague LaRue, Henry and Parker Jutras, Alexandra, Jaclyn, Anthony and Isabella DiVittorio and Caleb Finn.
The family wishes to thank all the staff on the Fourth Floor Neurology Ward of the Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, NC for their incredible care and kindness.There will be a visitation at First Baptist Church Hopewell at Noon on Monday, July 10th followed by the funeral at 2 PM. Burial will be at Appomattox Cemetery.Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Hopewell, VA.
