Obituary of Florence O. Harris

Florence O. Harris, 85, of Hopewell, passed away on Tuesday August 19, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband Odell, her parents Clive and Nanny Harris, brothers; Cecil Harris and George Elmo Harris. Florence was a lifelong member of First Christian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She loved all kinds of crafts to include knitting, crocheting, was an accomplished seamstress, and she loved to bake. When her grandchildren would visit she would always encourage them to get involved with one of her many crafts. It was said that she never met a stranger and she always had a smile on her face. She is survived by her daughter; Betty Harris Walmsley of Hopewell , son; George S. Harris and his wife Robin of Emporia, grandchildren; Alanna O. Sears and her husband Charles, Heather M. O'Brien all of Hopewell, Nicole Harris of Emporia, great grandchildren Charles David Sears, Seth C. Sears, Evan JH Sears, Justus M. Sears, Vladimir D.Clark, numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Memorial Funeral Home Hopewell, Sunday August 24, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday August 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Condolences may be registered at www.memorialfh.com
