Obituary of Susie H. Mitchell

Susie H. Mitchell, 87, of Hopewell, passed away on Friday October 24, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Madison and Lydia McGlothin Hess, husband; George F. Mitchell, son; Edward C. Mitchell, brothers; John Henry, Lon, Carson, Lawrence,Carles Hess, and Norman Compton, sisters; Rachel Miller, Minnie Miller, Mary Hess, Ethel Hess, Bertha Auten, Agnes Jessee and Margaret McCloud along with several siblings who passed in infancy. Susie was a loving mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren would always put a twinkle in her eyes and she loved spending time with them. She was a member of First Baptist Church and she loved her Lord and Savior. Susie is survived by her children, Terry L. Mitchell of Hopewell, Lawrence F. Mitchell of Chester, Douglas R. Mitchell and wife Carshena of Portsmouth, George R. "Randy" Mitchell, Dora E. "Betsy" Jenkins both of Matoaca, grandchildren; Chelsea Mitchell and fiancé Anthony of Colonial Heights, Jared S. "Storm" Mitchell of Chester, Caroline E. Anniss and husband Jeff of Chesterfield, great-grandchildren; Aubrey Madison Giacalone of Colonial Heights, Cameron "Nikki" Gray, Elizabeth Gray, both of Richmond, great-great grandchild; Kian Coppini, numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home 214 N. 6th Ave Hopewell, Virginia on Sunday October 26, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Monday October 27, 2014 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Darrell Boggs officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Birdsong Road, Prince George, Virginia. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First Baptist Church 401 N. 2nd Ave Hopewell, Virginia 23860.
