No words can express the lost felt with Ron's passing or ever fill the void in the lives of the many that he touched.. Ron, You will forever be one of the few, the proud, a MARINE. ...Sempi Fi Gunny and see you when I get there...
THE FINAL INSPECTION
The Marine stood and faced his God - which must come to pass.
Hoping his shoes were shining - just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Marine! How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek - to My Church have you been true?"
The Marine squared his shoulders and said - "No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns - can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays - and at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent - because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny - that wasn't mine to keep,
Though I worked a lot of overtime - when hills were very steep.
I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear,
Sometimes, God, forgive me - I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place - among the heroes here.
Many never wanted me around - except to calm a fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord - it needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much - but if you don't, I'll understand.
There was a silence around the throne - where Saints often trod.
As the Marine waited quietly - for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Marine - you've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets -"You've done your time in Hell."

Ron we go along way back. I remember the times Sharon,Joanna and I would get in trouble or pulled over on base and we would say "Call Officer Napper!" Many times that worked and got us out of trouble. LOL!!! Each time you would roll your eyes at us and we would just laugh.The Kareoke nights at the Officers club-fun fun!!! I remember your wedding to Sharon-the headaches planning it and getting us all together and ready at the same time. You were a friend to Rex and I and a parent to our kids.You proved that by showing up at Colby and Austins graduations-even tho I know Sharon prob had to drag you to Lejeune for them!!! LOL. Time and the MC separated our families but we remained friends and family. We love you and you will be missed. Sharon-Sis stay strong and know that I'm here if and when you need me. I love you girl!!!!

Ron,
I remember when you and I sat beside each other going through the first academy 10 years ago. We were all and still are one big family, we grew together, laughed and cried together. There is a deep void in the police department at fort lee since Ronald's passing. There is a great heart felt sorrow during this time, but it would be selfish to wish Napper to stay. GySgt Napper and I met in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and reunited at Ft Lee VA. I will always remember his smile and the love he expressed for his wife, children and Marines. My Marine Brother will be missed by all and I look forward to the day that we are reunited in Heaven.

It is with my deepest simpathy that I post this message to the Napper family. We are sorry for the lost of your husband and father of your children. We want you know that you are in our prayers, heart, and our minds.
I, as his former NCOIC nad friend here on Fort Lee, will miss him terribly. He was an excellent GySgt who always the right thing for the benefit of the Marines under his care. I have to say that he took that dedication to heart while in the Marine Corps and that same dedication he took out to his new job as police officer; he was motivated to do his job and taking care of people. Napper and I Co-Cpt a Flag football team together ( PMO/217th Raptors ) for the last 12 seasons. Like many parts of his life, when it came to football Ron was full of heart and passion. He played with everything he had and loved every min. of it! Napper was a great guy and i will miss him very much!

To the Napper Family:
It is with great sadness that we learned of Lead Sergeant Ronald Gunny Napper's death. I previously worked with him at Fort Lee for severalyears. My heart is filled with sorrow and sympathy for you in this difficult time.
Ron was more than a good person; he was a GREAT PERSON whose smile and wit would brighten up the hallways of the Provost Marshal's Office.
Remember, as you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, find comfort in the sweet memories of Ron.
Know that God loaned him to us, the Fort Lee Police Department and the United States Marine Corp and has now afforded him a home on high.

Napper!!!! I will always remember you for your smile. On my worst days you would come through the gate and make my day better just by seeing your smile. You were such and amazing man with such a wonderful family. I remember you coming through temple ave dropping your son off for work one morning and you were wearing your pjs. When you drove off all I could do is laugh because I couldnt believe you did that. I will always remember you for being one of the most amazing and well established people I have met so far in my life. Your such an inspiration , a great role model and friend. Lead Sergeant Napper, you were one of my greatest teachers when it came to working the road. An inspiration to everyone including me. When I heard of your passing I couldn't and didn't want to believe it, but I found out the truth when I came to work and you were not there. Family & Friends of the Late GySgt Napper,

Napper, you were always there when I needed you, alot of times before I even asked for help. You showed me what it means to be a good cop, and I really looked up to you. Your loss really hit me hard, and you will always be missed. But your example will stay with me for the rest of my life. You didn't realize it, but I believe you helped make me a much better person. I met Ron when I was at Ft Lee with the 1031st Engineer Company back 2003. He was then what he has always been, one of the nocest people you can ever meet. I later went on to work sise-by-side with him working for Alutiq/Wackenhut from 2004-2007, when I left to go to Iraq. I was later given the opportunity again to be graced by his presence again from late 2008 to early 2009. It is always a mournful day when someone passes, but when you have know and worked with someone for that long or even longer is even harder. Ron, you will ne greatly missed and your memory will forever be us all, from those you mentored in the Marine Corps to us at Fort Lee, VA.

LSGT Napper, I still find it so hard to believe that the man who was always there to have our backs, was always in the grind, and performed at the caliber that you did is gone. Ron, you and I go back to 1985 when we were Corporals together, and later instructors at the Ft Lee Lab. The news of your passing was quite a shock to me and the family. I'll always remember the days you, "Tiny", "Bob" and myself would hit the raquetballs at Camp Pendleton. You seemed to never get tired or want to quit. You were an inspiration to many. You were such an inspiration to me when I first got to Lee, you showed me what right looked like and pushed me to be a better MP as I learned the police profession. It is reasons like this that I am exiting the military after my enlistment is up and looking to become a Police Officer. I know that if I am even half a good of an Officer as you were, then I will be pretty damn good. Semper Fidelis my fellow brother. You passing came as a surprise to me and I immediately remembered the years we served together at the Marine Detachment at Fort Lee. You always emulated the finest traits of a U.S. Marine and most importantly, you were my friend. I always looked for you when I went to Fort Lee for events. I will miss you here on earth but will catch up with you in heaven Marine.

Nap, you were and always will be a true professional. I only knew you for a short while, but I will never forget you. When I was angered or down, or just having a bad day, you would make me laugh. You picked on me, but not in a bad way, in a way that told me "hey, I am here for you". That is the type of person you were, always giving of yourself. In the short time I knew you, you showed me the true character of a Police Officer and Veteran. You are gone, but never forgotten. It was a honor to work with you, you where one of the few people I enjoyed working with, you brought with you everytime I got to work with you some fun sarcasm and some good humor to every shift. Guns, I remember the very first time I met you. It was in the summer of 2001 at Fort Lee. I was a young Corporal stationed at Fort Lee. You were always approachable and easy to talked to. I remembered you retiring and becoming a Fort Lee police officer in 2002. I left Fort Lee in 2003 and came back in 2008 for school, and you remembered me like we've just met yesterday. Upon my return to Fort Lee as an Instructor in 2010, you were always willing to come down to the school and participate in graduations ceremonies as my guest speaker, most recently as September of last year. You taking time off your busy schedule to share knowledge with young Marines and future Bulk Fuelers will greatly be missed. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines you will surely be missed by all those who knew you. RIP, brother til we meet again. SEMPER FI.

I came to know Ronald when he attended the police academy at Ft Lee where I was the LT in charge. He was truly a pleasure to know. We did not keep in contact for many years but knwoing Ronald he considered me a friend as I did him. From the minute I met Ronald, I knew he was someone special. He had a brilliant, yet quirky, smile that was always present. He tutored me on how to be a better advocate/paralegal for the police officers he trained. I loved that he had a kind word for everyone and stood up for what he believed in with conviction. I will miss him always. He was made from a special mold and I have no doubt that his children inherited from that so, in that sense, I know that he will live on forever!!!

My little brother there are some things that I must say, In case I didn't tell you as you left our world today. I thank you for the love you gave, for the times that we have shared, for all the times you've comforted me, and when you showed me that you cared.
The times when you protected us, the times when you would call, for picking me up when I was down, and never letting me fall. You'd grown into a special man, a loyal and true friend, and touched the lives of many, .until the very end.

Ron was a great friend and great man. I came to know him while DJing at Ft. Lee. I was privileged to be a part of his wedding, and to get to know his family. It seems that every time I went to Ft Lee in the years following, I'd always bump into Ron. His easy smile, calm demeanor always present. I haven't seen him in several years, but I still considered him a dear friend...he will be missed terribly. Ron was a good buddy, but more-he was a man of honor. R.I.P. my friend.
