Obituary of James Bobby Taylor
James L. "Bobby" Taylor, Sr., 79, of Hopewell became an angel of the Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 18, 2017. Bobby was born in Bedford County to James Loving Taylor and Alma Leigh Lewis on September 29, 1937. He was preceded in death by both parents and an infant daughter, Terry Lynn Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret L. (King) Taylor; four children, Margaret Taylor Neal (Tommy), Kimberly Taylor Daughtry (Butch), James L. Taylor, Jr., Susan Taylor Miles; six half siblings; his 'cousin brothers', Richard Smith, H.E. "Poodle" Smith and Sammie Smith; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; his beloved Yorkie, Molly and several nieces, nephews and friends. James was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and worked as a machinist for Honeywell. Bobby also was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, baseball, football and old television shows. The greatest pleasure in his life was the love for his family. Bobby was a dedicated provider, father, grandfather and husband. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Avenue in the city of Hopewell. His funeral ceremony will be on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Final rest and military honors will conclude at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
