Obituary of Eddie J. Rafey
Eddie James Rafey, 81, of Hopewell, Virginia passed peacefully on October 28, 2015
He was born to parents of Lebanese descent; Wacilla and Sam
Rafey, and is predeceased by two children, Galeb and Amed, and a brother,
Richard. Also preceding him are two brothers and a sister born to Wacilla and
George Ameen; George, Ernest, and Edna.
He will be remembered with much love by his sons, Richard E. Rafey (Yvonne)
and James H. Rafey (Natalie) and by his five grandchildren; Aaron, Lisa, Rasheed,
Ryan and Bonito.
His nieces, nephews, and cousins will also miss him dearly. His sweet and happy
disposition was enjoyed by all who knew him and by the special people who cared
for him at the Hopewell Health Care Center in his later years.
His niece, Ban Rafey, recalls visiting Eddie's barber shop on Broadway decades ago.
Prior to being a barber, he worked at Rafey's Billiards. A long time family friend, Dante,
recalls that Eddie was very skilled at refurbishing and re-covering the pool tables that
got much use at "the Pool Room".
Those who remember Eddie may honor him with a donation to Doctors Without Borders
or a Hopewell charity and join his family for a reception at Celebri-TEES (formerly Rafey's
Billiards) at 206 East Broadway from 3 to 6 on Tuesday, November 10th.
