Papaw, You will be very missed by many including myself. I remember going to eat and spending time with you and my grandparents, Joe and Mary Tate. I love you and I hope you rest easy in heaven with your wife and son. Watch over us all and please bless us with continuous reminders of you. No matter if it is the wind in my hair, sunshine in my eyes, or just a calm moment of silence. You will always have a place in my heart Papaw.

Mr. Tate was always smiling even when he was hurting or feeling badly. I loved to hear him talk, with his deep smooth voice, and as a member of the choir there at one time, I asked him if he ever sang in the choir and he said, yes, a long time ago. I think he was one of the finest people, along with his wife., May, that I have ever met and am so sorry to hear of his passing. He will be greatly missed.

Mr.Tate was a great man in many ways. I still remember when he and my dad(Horace Cooper) work and built the first building of the Powers Memorial Baptist Church. What wonderful memories! I remember when my husband and I would come to see my mother(Arrella Cooper) and we would go to church and him and Mrs.Tate would always come and say hello to us and Mr.Tate would give me a hug.
Our condolences to the Tate family.
Your memories last forever!

This is my new email address. I love my Uncle Joe Tate so very much!! The whole Tate family would stop at our house in Radford on the way to Russell County to visit the relatives a couple of times a year. Always enjoyed those visits. Sometimes uncle Joe was visiting by himself. At Christmas he and aunt Mae always brought us quart of fresh oysters for Christmas. Always so yummy to eat on Christmas day. We visited several times in Hopewell when I was growing up and he and Aunt Mae always treated us royally!!! Love you Uncle Joe and family!!! Your niece, Kathy Tate Nester

Well, Pappaw, you aren't blind anymore, and I know you are happy to see your dear Mae again. You look up our Dad, and tell him we are all looking forward to the big reunion that isn't too far off! I am so glad I had a chance to know Mr. Tate and be a part of his extended family and more importantly, the family of the Lord Jesus together, and am able, as Joe was, to look forward to that country on that other shore, where "no sad goodbyes will be spoken, and time won't matter anymore!"
